When I went for my university interview, I was asked; “ Are you sure you don’t want to do landscape architecture instead?” I think it was my portfolio, it lots of watercolour landscapes in. I gave them a firm no. If only I had said yes…. I didn’t grow up with a garden, I was 39 before I had one and I just fell in love. So the first time a client asked if I could do garden design as well, I said yes please. Obviously the hard landscaping, lighting and design is an extension of my skills, but the planting scheme is my favourite part. I have a gold medal from Chelsea flower show – not for a garden (yet) I grow and arrange cut flowers – it was for a floral installation.
