This project required some creative thinking to give the clients the open plan kitchen they were after. Fortunately the tangle of existing outbuildings and garage at the rear of the house gave to opportunity to rebuild a fabulous extension with big sliding doors providing a wonderful connection to the private garden. Large roof lights let in lots of light. A large pantry and utility with a cloakroom area provide practical family space and the connection to the existing house provided a small snug area. The basement had to be excavated and underpinned, then tanked and created a perfect teenage retreat. The rest of the house was fully renovated with a wonderful new rooflight over the stairs throwing light down through the upper floors. The builders for this project were Lee and Jason from Essential Developments, who won an award for the build.
